We like to think (and know our guests agree!) that Trelan Farm here in North Wales is a brilliant place to visit all year around but there is just something about the Winter season that makes it very magical. As much as we love the summer months, there is something very special about a cosy winter cabin break.
Here are our top five reasons why we LOVE a winter break and why Trelan Farm could be your perfect destination for a winter getaway this January or February..
Wild Adventures
We love a winter break for many reasons but name something more invigorating than a fresh Winter Walk. Once the Autumn winds have stripped the trees, you can see for miles and miles, enjoying the breathtaking views. Trelan Farm is based in the foothills of Moel Famau, the highest peak in the Clwydian Range. From the cabins, you can find adventure on your doorstep and explore Moel Famau, Moel Arthur or the beautiful Loggerheads country park. Travel a little further afield you will find miles of unspoilt beaches and coastline paths or why not even visit Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon)? You’ll be spoilt for choice!
Cosy Pub Lunches
With your cheeks pink and toes tingling from your outdoor winter adventures, its time for some guilt free indulgence in one of our cosy local pubs. Step in to one of the many traditional local pubs and feel the warmth & hear the crackle of the open fire. Absolute perfection. Wales is renowned for amazing local food & drink and the local pubs do not disappoint with their options. We love the White Horse right here in Cilcain within walking distance from Trelan Farm.
Natures ASMR
The winter months with all the festivities and extra family visits can definitely be a bit stressful and intense at times. Escape and relax after the chaos and just be.The sound of the winter wind and rain tapping on the cabin window is natures very own ASMR. We may only be an hour away from Liverpool & Manchester but curled up under the fairy lights with a good book and you could be anywhere in the world. Soak in your very own private outdoor tub and watch the stars. Start your 2024 off feeling relaxed and refreshed.
The Weather
Now stay with us on this one.. North Wales isn’t renowned for having an all-round sunny climate we know BUT when you stay in Winter it alleviates all of the “will it be sunny or won’t it” pressure. Chances are you’ll see some rain, wind sun and possibly even some snow all in one day but come prepared for all weathers and embrace the wonderful Welsh Weather. The earlier dark nights make for incredible sunsets and even more time to stargaze from your private outdoor tub.
Peace & Quiet
Last but by no means least, we love a Winter Break in North Wales because it can mean less people. North Wales offers many quaint towns (Ruthin, Betws y Coed & Conwy are some of our favourites) which are much easier to explore in the quieter season. Many of our local tourist attractions are open all year around and less people means more chance of being able to grab that window seat in the cosy coffee shop and spend time watching the world go by.
