One of the things we love most about Trelan Farm is our location. Nestled in the foothills of the Clwydian Range in Cilcain, North Wales, our luxury glamping retreats are surrounded by beautiful countryside, with some of the best walks, places to eat and things to do in North Wales right on our doorstep.

Moel Famau is quite literally on our doorstep. You can walk directly from Trelan Farm towards the highest summit in the Clwydian Range, enjoying spectacular views across the North Wales countryside along the way. And what better way to finish a day exploring than stopping at our lovely village pub on the way home?

For those who prefer a gentler stroll, nearby Loggerheads Country Park offers beautiful woodland and riverside walks, while the surrounding Clwydian Hills are full of scenic footpaths, peaceful countryside and wonderful places to discover.

There’s so much more to explore beyond the farm, too. Discover the charming market towns of Mold and Ruthin, enjoy a day on the North Wales coast, explore historic castles or venture into the spectacular landscapes of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park.

Historic Chester is also just a short drive away, perfect for a little shopping, a leisurely lunch, cocktails or an afternoon exploring the famous Rows and Roman city walls.

Whether you’re planning a romantic break in North Wales, a weekend of walking in the Clwydian Range or simply looking for somewhere beautiful to escape together, Trelan Farm makes the perfect base.

And of course, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with doing very little at all. Sometimes the best part of a getaway is simply slowing down, soaking in your private outdoor tub and enjoying a little time for two.

Walk Up Moel Famau

You really can’t stay at Trelan Farm without being tempted by Moel Famau! The highest summit in the Clwydian Range, it’s one of North Wales’ most loved walking destinations, with spectacular panoramic views from the Jubilee Tower at the top.

One of the things that makes our location so special is that you can set off on foot directly from the farm. Pack your walking boots, enjoy the beautiful countryside and perhaps stop for a well-earned drink at the village pub on your way back.

Discover Vale Vineyard in Denbigh

For a lovely experience during your stay at Trelan Farm, why not visit Vale Vineyard in Denbigh, North Wales? Ran by Gwen and Rhys, Vale Vineyard is a family-run business that’s particularly close to our hearts — Gwen is Catherine’s sister in law.

Guests can enjoy vineyard tours and wine-tasting experiences, discovering more about locally produced Welsh wine while spending time in the beautiful Denbighshire countryside. It’s a wonderful way to spend an afternoon together, whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for something a little different to do during your North Wales getaway.

And there’s a little extra treat for Trelan Farm guests!

We can arrange for wine from Vale Vineyard to be delivered directly to your accommodation, so you can enjoy a glass of locally produced wine while relaxing on your private deck and taking in the countryside views.

Just a short drive from Trelan Farm, Loggerheads Country Park is a beautiful spot for a more leisurely walk. Follow the riverside paths, explore the woodland trails and enjoy the peaceful scenery of the Alyn Valley. It’s particularly lovely when the seasons are changing, and there’s a café for a coffee or something to eat after your walk.

Discover Historic Ruthin

The charming market town of Ruthin is well worth exploring during your stay. With its historic buildings, independent shops, cafés and lovely places to eat, it’s a wonderful destination for a relaxed afternoon.Wander through the town, discover its history and stop somewhere for a leisurely lunch before heading back to the peace and quiet of Trelan Farm.

Just a short drive from Trelan Farm, Theatr Clwyd in Mold is a wonderful place to spend an evening. Explore Conwy & the North Wales Coast

For a lovely day by the sea, head towards the North Wales coast and discover the historic town of Conwy. Famous for its magnificent medieval castle, picturesque harbour and charming streets, Conwy is a wonderful place to explore. Enjoy a stroll along the quayside, discover the independent shops or stop for some fresh seafood.

You could also venture along the coast to Llandudno, with its Victorian promenade, pier and spectacular views from the Great Orme.

The White Horse, Cilcain

For a proper village pub experience, The White Horse in Cilcain is a lovely place to visit during your stay. Set in our local village, within walking distance from Trelan Farm, it’s a great spot to enjoy a drink after exploring the surrounding countryside, particularly if you’ve spent the day walking around Moel Famau. We recommend booking in advance.

Waffle Box, Mold

If you fancy something a little different for breakfast, brunch or a sweet treat, Waffle Box in Mold is well worth a visit! Serving a delicious selection of sweet and savoury waffles, alongside freshly made coffees and indulgent milkshakes, it’s a lovely spot for a relaxed morning or leisurely lunch.

Nestled in the beautiful Vale of Clwyd, this charming pub combines traditional character with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Bryn Williams at Porth Eirias, Colwyn Bay

For something a little special, we love the idea of combining a trip to the North Wales coast with lunch at Bryn Williams at Porth Eirias. Situated right on the seafront in Colwyn Bay, this beautiful beachside restaurant celebrates seasonal Welsh ingredients, with fresh seafood and wonderful coastal views. It’s a lovely place for a leisurely lunch, followed by a stroll along the beach. Perfect for couples looking to make a day of exploring the North Wales coastline.

If you need somewhere for rest and relaxation, Trelan Farm is the place to be. The cosy, comfortable cabins have everything you need, whatever the weather. We stayed in November and had a wonderful stay, listening to the wildlife and having a 'conversation' with the owls.

Had a beautiful experience here! Me and my partner came for a night away together to celebrate our one year anniversary and it was bliss!So quiet & peaceful with the countryside, farm animals and nature surrounding us! Our host (Cat) was extremely helpful and brilliant throughout the process! I booked on airbnb and it was very easy with directions sent to the location after booking!It is to note when we arrived the place was spotless and set up beautifully! We both particularly enjoyed the outdoor bathtub / hot tub with bubbles as it was something different and really added to Lunas Lookouts character!I would definitely come back again and try one of the other properties on sight!
